About Me
I really love children. Children are our future. Through watching my own son grow and learn I have realized how important it can be to have good teachers who care about their students. One teacher can make a large difference in a child's educational experience. Remember that one teacher that you loved in high school? Do you remember the Common Core based lesson that they taught you? Or do you remember how they made you feel in the classroom?
In my formative years I had always tossed around the idea of being a teacher. My parents were both teachers, and many of my other friends and family were teachers too. Originally I decided to take the leap into my career development so that I could have a stable job with weekends and Summers off (so that I could spend that time with my son). Stable benefits for us sounded nice too. However, when I started on my adventures at Cal State San Marcos to pursue my degree and teaching credential, I discovered that teaching and working with children is my true calling.
Seeing my son struggle with school one year due to a teacher who seemed more apathetic than most, and then seeing the difference in his learning experience when he was rewarded with a caring, and nurturing teacher is what ultimately drives me to ensure that I do not lose that passion and love that I have for children. They need us, and they need us at our best. What we teach them is so much more than arithmetic and phonics.
I decided to create this website to be a hub of resources that I will use during my career. I hope it ends up becoming more than that as it develops. I want to keep track of my professional development as a teacher. I want to host articles, TED Talks, and online training that will help other teachers be better versions of themselves. I want a place to share what I have learned, as well as to share my creativity through lesson plans and lesson materials. I hope you will enjoy exploring this with me!
